#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER“Evil is a completely different creature, Mac. Evil is bad that believes it’s good.” MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years. What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh—a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds. In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves. Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac herself and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card? From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world . . . or destroy it.BONUS: This edition contains a deleted scene from Shadowfever and an excerpt from Karen Marie Moning's Iced.Karen Marie Moning’s explosive Fever series continuesDARKFEVER • BLOODFEVER • FAEFEVER • DREAMFEVER • SHADOWFEVER • ICED • BURNED • FEVERBORN • FEVERSONG • HIGH VOLTAGE • KINGDOM OF SHADOW AND LIGHT

"This ******* series grabbed me by the throat and sucked me into its world head first. I have NEVER read anything with such anticipation as I did these first five books. The secrets of Jericho Barrons will haunt me forever lol.

In all seriousness though, this series is amazing. Why it isn’t more well known is beyond me.

KMM does an outstanding job with her plot twists. I don’t think there was a single one I saw coming.

If you enjoy:
Fantasy

Celtic folklore

Idk if I’d say reverse harem but Mac certainly has a wild ride choosing who to stand by

Fae

Action and adventure to keep you on the edge of your seat

Spice"
"I feel conflicted!! On one half this book was amazing and definitely deserves 5 stars but on the other hand I feel like something more is missing,an extra shoe that hasn’t yet dropped. Long story short, I went in to this with too high expectations and I guess that’s on me..."

"I think this would have been better if it was cut down a bit. it drags in a lot of places. I thought the ending was nice. I liked the twist of v'laine being cruce. I don't know if I want to continue the series, because I find Dani annoying and the way she's talked about makes me uncomfortable like she's a child. I have to say I was really annoyed by the love triangle this entire series."
"It has been a long and agonizing wait for the final chapter in the Fever series. The wait was well worth it! The craftiness that KMM weaved the story with, I lost count of all the twists and turns. When I thought I had it figured out she managed to pull the rug out from underneath me again! It was brilliant. It is very true what others have been saying, it will not end the way you think.

This is really a great piece of workmanship. This wasn't one of those reads where you can figure out where the story is going and sit tight to enjoy the ride. This is a read where everything is called into question and as the story unfolds you are amazed at how Moning was able to blind side her readers into a twist that you couldn't have conceived. Brilliant ending. And even better, a hint that there may be other books set in the Fever series. I can't wait to see what else KMM can cook up for us!"
"Your welcome. Loved this series. Start from the first book so you can follow her journey. "

"
I still haven't recovered myself fully. I finished it last than thirty minutes ago and I consumed this entire series in less than a week. My heart is thorn and I feel like staring at the walls of my house blankly for hours until I recover the feeling of self. I have lost it entirely. I miss them so much already.
"Useless emotions. Rise above them. Stop reacting and act." Barrons would say.
I shake his voice away.

I will not just yet continue with the other five books of Dani's storyline but I will in the near future. Most likely this year still. This was the most surprising and unexpected journey I have ever been through. I picked up this series just because it had been in my TBR for so long and the books were short and it took control over my life and my feelings and I was swooning like a teenage girl all over again and I was never able to put the books down. Addicting, mysterious, sensual, terrifying, exhilarating from beginning to end. Books hardly ever put me on real edge and this one has. No wonder it was written by a Scorpio. HAHA Dark and twisted the way I like it. Karen managed to combine all my favorite horror movies, tv shows, a mix of supernatural and true blood and I had to stop lying to myself after I finished book 2 that I wasn't enjoying every second of it.

It made me uncomfortable, it put me on edge, but as my favorite video game character would say: "when you're not on edge you are taking up way too much space." And I could totally hear this quote being said with Barrons' voice. It is totally something he would say. Well there is a lot of things I can hear in Barrons' voice. He is in my head all the time now... I would not recommend this series to everyone, but my kind of people would be able to appreciate it for what it is, a masterpiece. Karen is the ****! MacKayla Lane has won my heart in so many ways I can't even begin to put it into words. And Jericho Barrons? Well, good thing he is hard to kill... He will live in my head RENT-*******-FREE.

Karen said "Some people bring out the worst in you, others bring out the best, and then there are those remarkably rare, addictive ones who just bring out the most. Of everything." and this is exactly what this book has done to me. I brought out the most of everything.

If you enjoy the macabre, dark sensual stories and intense rides with the best writing why haven't you picked up this series yet? Same page?

Good.
Same page, same bloody word. "
"wow to be honest I really loved this series
the character development was great!!! I mean, the Mac from the beginning of the book compared to the end are so different! she definitely earned her power and I was rooting for her the whole way through. I really loved how she learned so much about her capabilities' and her determination to live was really impressive. and WOW her and Barrons are perfect. PERFECT. I looked forward to literally every interaction between the two, and I was not left disappointed. one thing I didn't like was Mac's early outfits in the beginning of the series... I mean... wtf. Its soooo 2000's. I mean, rly, some of her things just were NOT cute.

overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and like how it deviated from the typical 'perfect' happy ending. it was real (as real as an urban fantasy could be). it was delightful to be alongside Mac on her crazy adventure through Dublin.

____
2nd read

Ngl, there were some parts I skimmed, like descriptions or Mac thinking things out, but overall ahhhhhhh I love this series. And reading it this time around completely erased my hate for Dani. I actually like her now? I definitely sympathize with her, though if the next book is about her and ryodan I’d have some (obvious) reservations about that.
But wow ever since I first read this series, I’ve tried so hard to find fresh characters like this in UF/PR and it’s pretty much impossible. There’ll be no one like Barron’s and Mac. Their dynamic and chemistry is extraordinary. By far one of my absolute favourite book couples. Also the whole overarching character development of Mac through this series was very well done.

Alas, on I go, to the next.

The reason why I probably won’t be continuing with this series is because I want to leave it on a high note (even though it was left open ended). There’s a lot of mixed reviews going forward, and every time I read them, it deters me. Who knows, maybe I’m wrong. Though it’s probable I’m right.

__
6/23
What can I say other than Jericho and Mac supremacy. I actually kind of love Danny, this readthrough, though I didn’t really like the writing style in her POVs. She really has been through a lot. And I can actually sympathize with her age and feeling isolated. I understand that 14 year olds can be a little annoying (I think that part was intentional?), but she’s actually pretty bad ass.
I admit I did skim some parts where Mac does a lot of speculating, or reviewing on things she’s discovered or trying to figure out, mostly because I was trying to get to the banter and it felt like filler
Anyway, I actually think I’m going to go on to the rest of the series, since there’s a lot like to know about this world and its characters still

After re-reading my two other reviews after writing this third one, I agree with my second review, and I mostly agree with my first, but my take on Mac outfits is so wrong. Her outfits are so cute for the 2000s, which I feel is rare"
"The story is essentially enjoyable, but some of the characters have gone stale. <spoiler>Dani is a great character, but the story told from her perspective—the prose used—is incredibly irritating. I know it's meant to sound like a kid, but it's over the top.</spoiler> There was too much telling and not enough showing: it seemed like certain situations were contrived just so a conversation could take place that explained things. I usually like first-person storytelling, but here it grated. If there's going to be such detailed, long dialogue, I think third-person works better; otherwise, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I keep hearing the series has ended—and indeed, this book certainly feels like a conclusion, of sorts—but more *fever books keep getting published. I'm kinda confused, but I'll keep reading. O.o <spoiler>Speaking of conclusions, it felt very, very weird to me to omit resolution between Dani and Mac from this book.</spoiler>"
