Karen Marie Moning
#1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning picks up where Shadowfever leaves off with Iced, the sixth book in her blockbuster Fever series. The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be. Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities. Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux. When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance. Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Karen Marie Moning's Burned.Karen Marie Moning’s explosive Fever series continuesDARKFEVER • BLOODFEVER • FAEFEVER • DREAMFEVER • SHADOWFEVER • ICED • BURNED • FEVERBORN • FEVERSONG • HIGH VOLTAGE • KINGDOM OF SHADOW AND LIGHTPraise for Iced “Moning returns to the heady world of her Fever series, and the results are addictive and consistently surprising. . . . The best elements of Moning’s sensual, shadowy epic are still here, from the sensual and enigmatic Fae to the super-alpha heroes and the breathless pace of their escalating conflicts. At its heart is a heroine whose development is likely to become the stuff of legends as this unforgettable, haunting series continues to evolve.”—RT Book Reviews “This is one of my favorite 2012 reads . . . It’s engaging, hilarious, amazing and Dani is going to be one heck of a woman.”—USA Today “A gripping story that combines excellent storytelling with believable characters that are rendered both superhuman and superbly human, with emotional fragility and psychological vulnerability in an unstable world fraught with danger . . . Fast-paced, with nonstop action set in a fascinating urban fantasy world of Dublin under siege, this is a smart, bold and textured success.”─Kirkus Reviews “Moning is a master storyteller. I don’t know how she does it, but she begs me to get on my knees and pay worship to the woman who has brought me the best, most labyrinthine stories and characters I’ve ever had the privilege to get to know. She weaves brilliantly, unapologetically, and without exception, and she has threaded the needle into me and I’ve been pulled, over and over, into her tapestry, and I don’t think I’m ever getting out. Iced is no exception.”—The Bawdy Book Blog (five-starred review)

"This series is so compelling. I had a huge book hangover after the last installment "

"I knew this would end in a cliffhanger. I knew it. But it still ticks me off a bit. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers. Cliffhangers such as you find in this one. Others that leave the story arc hanging for another novel doesn't bother me, it's the something happened and cut! that makes me angry. But, it is a KMM novel, so it was expected, but still didn't leave me happy like a book should when I finish it.<br/><br/>One thing that disturbed me was how all the guys were fawning and ******* after a 14 year old girl. I think KMM does a good job of showing Dani's age in this with her maturity level. She's a hotshot know it all, or she think she does. I know I thought I was a know it all at 14 and probably just as obnoxious as she was. But the idea that these guys, who were much older than she is, wanting her was uncomfortable. Granted, they all (pretty sure) are waiting for her to grow up to a more acceptable age, but just the thought that they want her now is not cool. <br/><br/>The story itself was interesting. I got a kick out of Ryodan needing Dani's help. I'm still not sure if he wanted her help or if it was an excuse to keep her close since she has some abilities that mirror his own. One thing I have to give to Karen is that she knows how to plan and plot a story. I never felt like she was reaching for a way to resolve the plot and pulled something out of her ass to explain what was going on (you probably have read plenty just like that, annoying isn't it?). Once it got to the point where we get to see what it is that is going on, it all starts to make sense and I love that. I don't think there is anything better than when everything comes together so well.<br/><br/>I love the fever series, I do. But these damn cliffhangers don't make me happy at all. So, if you've read the fever series, you know they are coming. I contemplated waiting to read this until all three were out and released but that could take years with KMM. Years. I'm just not that patient."
"Let me just get my irk out of the way. The way Dani is written is highly irritating: I’ve had my fill of “dude,” “I seen,” “all the sudden,” and the like. As a middle-aged word nerd, I couldn't ignore it.<br/><br/>But my goodness is this kid lovable, equally because of her brash exterior and despite it. There's really a lot to like here and it's a great story.<br/><br/><spoiler>The grown, immortal men taken with a 14yo are gross in their state of smit, but are otherwise really fascinating characters: Christian’s slow transition to full Unseelie prince and Ryodan’s semblance of humanity. On the human side, Dancer is as adorable as Dani (can be) and the two of them are adorable together. <br/><br/>There is a grand, climactic showdown with multiple big bads at the end, and I enjoyed this one the most so far; it’s action-packed, really intense, and immensely gratifying. <br/><br/>Yes, yes, Dani and Mac’s relationship doesn’t really get touched this time around. This would be really problematic, were there no more books in the series. Thankfully, there are, and</spoiler> I’m off to read the next one right now."
"<b>I LOVED this book!</b><br/><br/>First off let me just say that [a:Karen Marie Moning|48206|Karen Marie Moning|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1350594088p2/48206.jpg] has an amazing way with words. She's just such an amazing storyteller!<br/><br/>I read lots of reviews about this book and must say that everyone that's getting up in arms about Dani being 14 just missed the whole point Karen was trying to make with this book (In my "humble" opinion")!<br/><br/>1. Rate/Review the book for what it is...this is not a Mac & Barrons book. This is Dani and yes she's 14 and *gasp* acts like a child sometimes. She also doesn't always think things through but that's part of the learning process for her. <br/><br/>AND<br/><br/>The reason we're seeing Dani as a teenager is because Karen is letting us into Dani's world early. How AWESOME is it that we get a front row seat at watching Dani grow up?? At watching her turn into that amazing woman Ryoden knows she'll become. Instead of getting a few chapters of back story on a character we get a WHOLE FECKING book that shows us how the whole Dani/Ryoden/Dancer/Christian story line began. <br/><br/>2. Some reviews are really upset that Dani's 14 and has 2 guys "wanting" her...........<br/> Dani - Yes she's 14 and that is young HOWEVER I feel that the road Karen went down as far as Dani and the topics of sex is concerned was age appropriate. <br/> Ryoden - He never wants to "screw" 14yr old Dani. He is attracted to the potential inside of Dani to grow up into a fiercely beautiful woman. I truly feel like he wants Dani to be to him what Mac is to Barrons. BUT the key is he wants that to happen when she's mature enough.<br/> Christian - The relationship between Christian and Dani was MUCH different than her and Ryoden. Yes Christian did want to sleep with Dani.....HOWEVER you have to remember he's turning into an Unseelie Prince. A bad guy! Remember....Death-by-Fae??? <br/><br/>3. I went into this thinking I was gonna be Team Ryoden all the way but can I just say.....<i>Dancer</i>.....He blew me away and stole my heart! I am in love with this man/boy we know so little about. I'm really really excited to learn more about him and what his story has for us......<br/><br/>I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one! <br/><br/>Peace Out!!!<br/><br/>"
