MadelynOne of the most perfect films I've ever watched, and it reminds me a lot about myself.

MadelynWas a really fun watch in theaters, but looking back on it, it's more flawed than I remember. For reference sake, I haven't read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but I have read the three other Hunger Games books, and watched the four other movies. I really enjoy this series, so a prequel about the villain, one of the worst people put to screen, doesn't sound so bad... I think that the characters in this film are pretty good, and the actors portraying them definitely gave them their all. I think that the aesthetics of the film are great, and even some of the bits of dark humor went over really well. But looking back in retrospect... Yeah, the pacing sucks. It feels like a genuine book-to-film adaptation, was the a prologue and three parts, but.... Some of that third act should've been re-wrottem, I think. The things I also liked were overall the character of Lucy Gray, and I genuinely liked a lot of the music from the film. I'll probably re-watch it, but, yeah it's no better than the first two films of this franchise. 8/10

MadelynYes, I did like the ending... Is this film over-hated? Sure! I think the cinematography was some of the most stunning I've ever seen! The concept was also incredibly intriguing, like a modern 'Stepford Wives'. Tapping into the 1950s aesthetics was obviously amazing, and the costumes were great. The soundtrack was also quite notable. I found the acting to be pretty damn great, and I just felt like the plot moved at a very fair pace... You can tell something is wrong, but I found the twist to actually be quite intriguing - The unsettling feeling is actually handled quite well. I'll have to re-watch this film, and I hope it holds up! 8/10

MadelynI identify as both Barbie and Ken... This is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, and it even made me cry. This film is such a raw, yet humorous look at how hard life is, as well as gender and everything that falls under that... From how the patriarchy hurts both men and women, how hard it is to live and not be exceptional, and the ideas at play in life. I loved the costume and set design, it feels like everyone in this film really cared about the franchise of Barbie. I feel like all of imagination at play is gorgeous. The soundtrack is also an amazing piece here. I've seen this film twice, and it has truly affected my life... Incredible. 10/10

MadelynThree things I'll never trust again: Christopher Nolan, magicians, and twins. An eloquently written film with a delectable slow-pace and slow-burn plot that utilizes great character writing. The rivalry written between High Jackman and Christian Bale's characters is very well-explored, thanks to the timeline... You can truly feel the hatred growing between the two men. The other characters are also so compelling. The love stories here in here feels so heartbreaking, everything from adultery, to loss and suicide were so heartbreaking to watch. I also feel like the set and costume design was so luxurious, and I feel I already have to rewatch this film... For every new detail. 10/10

MadelynThis is one of my favorite films ever, it's left such an impact on me. This is the film that got me back into Batman. How did this film do so? Well, Christopher Nolan is a simply exquisite filmmaker, by writing his film out-of-order... And by doing a fascinating character study for Bruce Wayne. By pinpointing that Bruce Wayne is truly the mask, it's Batman... What an amazing idea, and a great way to dive into some psychology. The villains in this film are also amazing - Whilst the villains aren't the most theatrical, changing these villains to fit a more realistic world works amazingly. Falcone is a force to be reckoned with, Ra's Al Ghul is great for moral issues, but the stand-out here is Dr. Jonathan Crane, played masterfully by Cillian Murphy... Despite his limited screentime, he leaves such an impact. The rest of the supporting cast, from Rachel, who compliments Batman so well, Alfred, who is the emotional core of the film, Jim Gordon is played so well here, and Luscious Fox is a great addition here. The action scenes are fast-paced, and the commentary on fear is so good... It's truly made me think so much. My favorite of The Dark Knight Trilogy, and my favorite Batman movie. I love it so much, and I would love to re-watch it and only continue to get immersed in this world. 10/10

MadelynWelp... I'm happy I read this, but I wish I had enjoyed this more. The ending... Yeah, this ending didn't stick the landing. I loved the idea of this book, a queer story in a historical setting, which is never really explored in historical fiction. And I did like the first two thirds, but the last third was a bit of a slog, and none of the twists are that interesting. The ending to this love triangle... Felt like a cop-out. I don't mind a twisty romance with tons of deception, but just... Not as good as I thought it would be. A good, but very flawed book. 7.5/10

MadelynThis was the first comic book I've ever read. And it was amazing. The plot was twisty, and I definitely enjoy the idea that she is unsure, that the past keeps changing, it's such an interesting way to tell a story. The art was also... So, so beautiful, I now finally understand why people love reading comic books so much!!! 9/10

MadelynA beautiful short film, perfect for me, as I love the music and the aesthetics. I've been a fan of Taylor Swift, so obviously this is something I would enjoy. I'm not entirely sure if this is a piece of cinema or a music video, it's kinda in the middle... It does work as both, it represents the song well, but is also shot really creatively, making it an enjoyable watch... I love the acting performances here, I felt like the pair of actors not only acted really well against each other, but really brought to life these characters and everything that is represented in the song. The ending is also a very nice twist, and the whole thing feels lovely and cohesive. Excellent. 9/10
