Bio
I have a love for all things art - books, film, audio, music, painting- you name it! My current focus is books, but I avoid booktok because well, that place is crazy cuckoo bananas. My stars don't always add up because my ratings are more for comparison of the piece of work to others of the same genre....not how much I personally enjoyed it. Best advice is to read my reviews to see how I really feel!

HMFOne of the best romantasy books right now and a contender for the best, due to the quality of the writing. But no one talks about it, probably because it's self-published. Here's what you get: Slowwwest of burns - ✔️ Sunshine X Grumpy trope - ✔️ Dry humor - ✔️ Road trip adventure - ✔️ Unique world building - ✔️ Intentful dialogue - ✔️ DnD vibes - ✔️ It's giving mature Disney, which sounds iffy, but the author makes it work beautifully. The writing is fresh, clever, and doesn't get lost in the "fast fashion-booktok"writing style trend we are experiencing right now. This is the book you need to pick up if you are in a romance fantasy reading slump.

HMFMediocre, and yet I still read the series.... Do not expect a lot from the writing in this book. If you keep your expectations low and just want a fun read, this book is perfectly fine! If you are looking for intricate world building and a beautifully written plot, this won't be the book for you. I'm serious. Find another series, this ones not for you. Why? -"darling" is cute but not original, and it's said too much and is out of place. Feels like the author is trying to make another Rhysand (ACOTAR). It only worked for Rhysand because he comes across as cultured and suave. I don't think it fits coming from Kai. -Kitt gives minor Tamlin vibes (ACOTAR). Again, it feels unoriginal given other similarities to the series, which is the only reason I mention it. -influenced by Hunger games. Fight to the death, sponsors sending supplies, literally called "games", interviews and styled outfits.... I'm sure there is more to add here, but I'll stop. -the books read like drafts. Not bad drafts, necessarily. The plot could make a decent series BUT with significant editing and world building. -Waayyyyyy too much internal monologues. Us readers are smart enough to infer. Too much monologue is insulting -incase you forget, MCs hair is silver. And the author will remind you every 1-2 pages. -also incase you forget... MCs eyes are "ocean eyes". That means blue. You know the primary color blue? Like water, as in the ocean.....her eyes are blue. Don't you forget it. But if you do, it's okay, because it's probably on every other page! But like I said, I read it anyway! Why? -slow burns are my weakness -love the "battle hardened warrior is actually a softy" trope -i was in a reading slump and I needed something to read without needing to use my brain TLDR: It feels like the author typed in chat Gpt: "write a book like the hunger games but the MMC is a Rhysand try hard". if you just need fantasy romance trash a la "booktok" this is it!

HMFI made it through. After the first 1/3, I felt I was only holding out for the love story, which really didn't hold strong. So, at this point, I was reading purely out of my own stubbornness to avoid DNFing it. The characters started out fine, but they were watering down as the story progressed. It sorely lacked character development and displayed toxicity between FMC and MMC. When I recognize domestic violence or a toxic love storyline, I eagerly anticpate a second love interest to be written in. This was not the case and unfortunately resulted in the relationship feeling forced. I've read other reviews saying it was written in 4 weeks (per the author's note). I'm not sure if that was what the author meant, but this certainly felt like rushed writing. However, just as the first book, the spice is solid if that is what you are looking for. There are many instances where similar names of characters and places are easily confused, making the writing difficult to follow. Also, this book ends with a cliffhanger, which felt out of tune as many conflicts were already left unresolved by the end. I'm torn whether I want to continue with the next book or not, as this one did not hit the mark.
