"Heck is a very unusual experience. It's an analog horror short movie, through the eyes of a child. The child seems to be alone in his house, not being able to communicate with his mother. What we get out of that situation is a surrealist nightmare, and what I believe is this childs personal Hell. It's a fantastic short film and is free on youtube. Please go give it a chance, this is infinitely more scary than any Hollywood horror I've seen recently. "
"one of the saddest films i've ever seen. minimalist horror from the perspective of a child; one that reminds you of what it's like to be a kid in an environment where nothing is built to your proportions, and getting down a cereal box can give you a nasty spill. There are no cheap jumpscares, just mumbled (subtitled) words. As someone with auditory processing this is so real. Solitude and neglect and darkness are the terrors here.
(spoilers)
And (i'm going to go on a personal belief monologue here, get comfortable or go away) this is one of the feelings I have, that if there is a divine being or creator, they just don't care about us, or they're dead, or tired. An absence of afterlife would be preferable to a sweet kid whose worst misbehavior he can think up is drawing on the carpet and walls with crayons and messing up a living room, being left alone forever.
I recently finished the game Spiritfarer, and the similarity to the character Stanley is so distressing. Parents, you're likely to cry."
