After a decade apart, childhood sweethearts reconnect by chance but how many words will it take for them to figure out where it all went wrong? From the New York Times bestselling authors of the “delightful” (Shelf Awareness) The Unhoneymooners. The story of the heart can never be unwritten. Macy Sorensen is settling into an ambitious if emotionally tepid routine: work hard as a new pediatrics resident, plan her wedding to an older, financially secure man, keep her head down and heart tucked away. But when she runs into Elliot Petropoulos—the first and only love of her life—the careful bubble she’s constructed begins to dissolve. Once upon a time, Elliot was Macy’s entire world—growing from her gangly bookish friend into the man who coaxed her heart open again after the loss of her mother...only to break it on the very night he declared his love for her. Told in alternating timelines between Then and Now, teenage Elliot and Macy grow from friends to much more—spending weekends and lazy summers together in a house outside of San Francisco devouring books, sharing favorite words, and talking through their growing pains and triumphs. As adults, they have become strangers to one another until their chance reunion. Although their memories are obscured by the agony of what happened that night so many years ago, Elliot will come to understand the truth behind Macy’s decade-long silence, and will have to overcome the past and himself to revive her faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love.

"If I could give this book more than five stars I would do so without hesitation! This is one of the best second chance romances I've ever read! It was so sweet and incredibly emotional! The writing was beautiful, the plot amazing, and I loved the main characters! Elliot and Macy were so sweet, and soooo good together! I 100% recommend checking this book out!"
"The writing was okay. However, the plot was out of my comfort zone for two reasons.
- The main love story takes place when the characters are 14-16 years old. So, it was uncomfortable to listen to them talking about the nasties and such. It felt like eavesdropping on hormonal teens’ GC conversations. No thank you.
- In the present timeline, there is this tension on whether the mc should leave her fiance to get with the love interest or stay in the relationship. Although the author repeatedly mentioned how the fiance and the mc met two weeks ago, and the relationship lacks chemistry, it still felt like emotional cheating… The love interest literally broke up with his girlfriend as soon as he met the mc because he knew he still had feelings. I felt like that should’ve been the case with the mc considering even her friend was rooting for the mc and love interest.

"It was a cute book but Elliot’s excuse/ reasoning didn’t make sense. Overall happy ending."

"This is a very beautiful book and I really liked the characters and how well their personalities were written. I didn’t love the ending and it seemed really unrealistic regarding the not knowing. Overall it’s a great book by Christina Lauren! Second chance romance and friends to lovers. One thing that I couldn’t stop thinking about while reading it was how similar Every Summer After (published 4 years after LAOW) was. Like it’s the same book… I don’t get why this hasn’t been a bigger topic of conversation. Overall I enjoyed Love and Other Words more! 1/5 spice. A couple open door scenes. "
"Loved it! Christina Lauren has such a great writing style. Such a compelling read, that makes you feel like a part of story not just the reader. So relatable… joy, heartbreak, love, lose. What’s not to love! "
