I've re-read this book several times now and I never get tired of it."

"Candy is Plucky and it's all just so unexpected. I love the winding nature of this story, it takes a lot of turns, but the characters are great. I was lucky enough to have married a man who knew that the first edition of this was illustrated (by Barker! ) and he got it for me for our anniversary last year. I have really fallen in love with the world if Abarat and can't wait to start the second book. If you can, I highly recommend reading an illustrated copy. "
