"Entertaining book about a halfling (half fae half human) joins a conspirracy to kill the king even though as the Blade she was forced to kill halflings based on the king's orders. Due to her background many of her fae co-conspirators don't trust her.trust her"

"Bro I have a bone to pick with Melissa Blair! This second installment does NOT suffer from that middle book syndrome. In fact, it goes so far in not only furthering the plot line with so many twists and turns! And the character development?? PACKED with found family! You know how much I love that. However the cliffhanger? Disappointing in the sense that, I don’t understand. Only the ending does book 2 suffer from that book 2 curse of, wtf is this. We see a new side of Gerarda. I still don’t understand the curse that Gwyn had to deal with or why.
But nevertheless I remain faithful that book three will set me straight and fulfill me with all the hope we need. I want to see Damien suffer what we missed out in with the king, and understand Killian better. That bond too!"
"I am enjoying this series but I wish I were in love with it. This book seemed a little long and stalled for whatever reason. There are also at least a few plot holes that I doubt will get plugged. I think Killian may be my favorite character although I'm not sure where the author is going with his and Keera's connection when it's so obvious who she wants to be with AND the complication that brings to Killian/Riven's relationship.

I'm only mentioning this cause it's towards the end of the book and quite fresh in my mind but I was so thrown for a loop when in one particular scene Keera is told to make a choice. Keera says something along the lines of the same choice I made before and then follows up with I made the wrong choice before. I won't make the same mistake again [paraphrasing here] -- um, what?"
"I was so excited to read this after reading the first book in this series and I wasn't disappointed. This book was full of more intrigue and secrets being found and revealed. This book picked up right where the previous one left off and answered the questions that had been left unanswered at the end of the previous book. I love this and can't wait for the next book. There's so much more to this story that continues to evolve and develop and surprise me as I keep reading and once again at the end of this book there was a huge surprising twist and I was left wondering what will happen next. Ahhh, I hate having to wait to find out what happens next.
This is a series that caught me off guard with how good it is and I would recommend it. Do pay attention to any trigger or content warnings that you've heard or read about this series though like that there's sexual content on the page, depression, violence, self-harm (scars), and heavy grief."
