"The endings were terrible. My goodness. 60 episodes for that. Spoilers ahead... No one gets an ending. I understand that they like open endings but I felt like we left mid story. There is not a single happy couple at the end. Our female lead never finds out who she really is. The poor fake crown prince is disabled and alone. The emperor continues to be lonely but a good leader for the people. We have no idea what happened to the one that married the fake prince. The brother that is in love with the female lead switches alliance just because dad said so after living most of his life as a rebel. Does the Ming dynasty rebels give up and just disappear? No justice against all the bad people in power. Only one actually paid for his crimes. The rest were too powerful. Just left with a depressed emperor and empty promises we never get to see come true. I don't hate that our FL chose no one but we get no answer as to where she went or what happened to her. The secret ending isn't in English but is worse. Basically our female lead chose her family over the emperor in her heartache she stares over a cliff. Her scarf gets left behind. The fake prince finds it and thinks she jumped. Someone kills him and throws him off the cliff. FL saw this. She married fake prince on his grave then heads to the palace where she kills the emperor. Since neither group now has an heir the war and destruction she desperately wanted to avoid will now happen in the fight for the throne. The end. "
