"This refreshing documentary explores the power of women near the English thrones in the 1100s, and later in the 14th century. Episode one shares the exciting history of Matilda, granddaughter of William the Conqueror, and Eleanor of Aquitaine, who both had reason to try to claim the throne. Episode two dramatically explains the plight of two women, Isabella and Margaret, who were both married to strong kings, but had ambitions of their own that equaled, or even rivaled that of their husbands, Edward II, and Henry IV. Episode three ends the special with England in crisis in the day of Henry IV, and Elizabeth I. I enjoyed watching each episode, and although, at times the pacing of parts of each episode may be a bit slow, the content more than makes up for that."
