"If you’re a fan of the books (like I was in middle school), then this show is going to feel like a roundhouse kick across the mouth. Even if you’re not a fan of the books, this just feels like one of those low-effort wacky, zany cartoons they have playing in the background of another series. I’m not going to say the books were some triumph of kids’ books but it’s still so disappointing to see the total lack of care or originality and seeing that yes, there is a way to make worse cartoons. Somehow"
