"It's lowkey (or at least arguably) better than the movie, and that's no shade to the movie, it's definitely a favorite & a classic, but the series really had a heavy load to carry like all series that are based of movies where NONE of the movies main characters reprise their roles, it's huge shoes to fill honestly I mean them sisters were Vanessa Williams, Vivica Fox AND Nia Long! That's a tall order to recast, but Nicole Ari Parker, other Vanessa Williams & Melinda Williams really brought it, both with bringing elements established by the original actresses in the movie & brought their own thing. At the very least I appreciate Irma P. Hall (another all star I adore) played Big Mama in flashbacks. I prefer the kid in the movie to the kid here, I honestly don't know why though. But yea they covered so many topics & had great character growth, and way hot & steamy sex scenes.
