Dear Hyeri

"Started for FL Shin Hye-Sun stayed for SML Kang Hoon. I will try to not rant but I do have stuff to say. The storyline was not good. From my perspective, it romanticized a toxic relationship, and even worse, used it as an example for how to heal through love. This drama centers around a FL with a traumatic past that causes her to develop dissociative identity disorder (DID), previously known as multiple personality disorder. Presenting toxic relationships as romantic is already bad, but stirring mental illness into the mix makes it worse. Anyway, I will give two things I did like about the show, which almost convinced me to rate one star higher, but the plot was just too bad for me to give in. 1. Kang Hoon. He played the role of the second male lead, and I thought he gave the best performance of everyone in the cast. Yes, I'm biased towards his character, but I'm also biased towards actress Shin Hye-Sun who's character(s) I liked more until the end. I think he understood his role the best and because of that was able to deliver in emotion in all of his scenes. 2. The filming. Everyone involved in the picture and editing did an amazing job! It made me even more mad to see such a beautiful style of filming paired with a plot that I absolutely hated, cause I could've loved this show so much! I also want to point out that my rating is not based on my personal preference of how I wanted the story to go but rather how well I was convinced by the story and the characters. I really believe this plot could've used another draft or two cause there was a lot of potential especially with the people working on the project but it just didn't work. 3/10 🎭"
