"This is a fun horror show for kids, much like Goosebumps and Eerie, Indiana. The show follows five teenagers (seniors?) as they investigate paranormal activities in their town of Tanah Merah in Malaysia. They document their cases in an online blog they call Mr. Midnight.
The show is an adaptation of a children's horror fiction collection titled Mr. Midnight, written by Jim Aitchison under the pseudonym James Lee. There are 130 books in the series that were published in Singapore. The books are very much like the American books written by R.L. Stine, Goosebumps. There are 13 episodes, each around a half hour. It was easy to binge.
The show is a little cheesy, especially because of one of the friends, Nat, played by Caleb Monk. You need to give him AND the show a chance, though. He definitely grew on me and the show got better with each episode. I think it came together nicely at the end but there was a cliffhanger that will never be answered since the show was canceled. It's Netflix so that sounds about right. I'm bummed because it was a very cute and fun show and I enjoyed all the characters. I'm going to miss them.
Solid 4/5*s!"
