"Zayn McClarnon is such an amazing actor. I have followed him from Longmire to Reservation Dogs, so I was thrilled to watch his performance as a Diné, Navajo reservation police officer. As always, he gives an incredible performance with the usual intelligence, subtle strength, and bravery, and respectful vulnerability. This series is so good and addictive to watch. The co-stars are incredible in their nuanced and thoughtful performances. I binged the first season (6 episodes), in one day, and I am ready to move on to season 2. As a black woman, I am keenly interested in how the stories of my heritage are told. That being said, by watching this fascinating series, I truly hope that I was given a real glimpse into some parts of Navajo life. It is also my hope that the members of the Navajo nation feel respected by the portrayal of its people and traditions in this series. Please feel free to let me know in the comments. "
"DARK WINDS is a great #TVseries from AMC+ that’s available to stream right now on #Max —
It’s part cowboy-crime-drama, and part psychological mystery-thriller that brings in elements of Navajo mysticism.
🏜️🌵 The Southwestern landscape & reservation life and culture really standout here, as well as the mostly Native American cast of characters — The acting is fantastic — In fact, the main actor at the center of it all, Zahn McClarnon, gives an excellent performance (his facial expressions alone convey such great emotion).
His costar, Kiowa Gordon, is great, too … everyone, really! But I love the two male leads… They’re both very handsome 😍 with authentic & grounded personalities.
⭐️ Executive producers include: Robert Redford, George R.R. Martin. Adapted and based on the novels of author Tony Hillerman.
Shout out to @djcount for recommending this :-)"

"This was a great series! Season one is only 6 episodes. The acting and the look of the show are amazing. I knew these characters from the mystery novels but this is the Navajo tribal police and the characters reimagined. Great characters in a tightly woven story. This series is top notch"
"The almost all-Native American cast and excellent writing make ‘Dark Winds’ a fresh set of stories well worth watching. The relationships really drew me in. "
