"This is the sister to an Oxygen network show of the same name. As I hadn't seen the TV show and hadn't known about this case (apparently it was big news) I came to this with fresh ears. The podcast was well done - interviews from everyone but the victim, expert witnesses the producers brought in to critique the case and the benefit of a host-ptoducer who was both once a prosecutor and has been reporting on cases for many years. The setting in the rural South was compelling to me with the influences and tensions of everybody knowing everybody else, religion, racism/racial divides, amateur online detectives, inexperienced investigators and a prosecutor who wanted to make his case no matter what. I found myself having definite opinions. That hadn't happened to me since Serial. Usually, I just listen to the story and go wherever it takes me. This isn't a new story so perhaps this is old hat for most in this community. If it's novel to you, I'd definitely recommend it. Note the murder here is gruesome and unspeakable but thankfully the podcast doesn't get graphic #true_crime #southern #murder "
