"This fantasy film took me by surprise. I liked it more than I thought I would. This is simply a fun sci-fi adventure that is reminiscent The Rocketeer and Darkman. The plot follows The Phantom, a comic book character whose life we join in progress. We know little about him accept that he fighting an ancient organization whose goal is world domination. Billy Zane is charming as The Phantom, and Treat Williams is clearly enjoying himself playing the role of a smarmy villain who has unlimited contacts and money to burn. Catherine Zeta-Jones has a fun part of a villainess who simply wants to be a part of the action."
"I grew up forced to watch this movie. I didn't hate it, but it is rather dumb. I mean really they have no idea who the phantom is when Kit went inside the mechanics room, his clothes were on the ground, and out comes the phantom with no kit to be found. What did the phantom do, vaporize him? I mean come on. Also what kind of mask is that. According to superman comics his glasses have hypnosis or something so people don't know he's superman. The phantom has a purple wig cap on and fabric goggles.
There is also the fact that Kristy Swanson is in it. My mum and I were cheering for him to be with Catherine Zeta Jones. Speaking of how does Catherine not see him as Kit at the end? What is she blind from 200 ft away.
The only cool thing about this movie is Devil and the sets. Although someone moving a plant in front of a light for the map scene in the museum had me laughing.
