"This movie was recommended by @ronpaulstonerdude. The MC reminded me of the Korean version of John Wick. He was smooth, calm & cool as he took care of business. He was also portrayed this way in the Korean period piece series Faith where he played a crown prince alongside the loveable actor Lee Min Ho. Subtitled. "
"Really good action movie. Guys wife suckers him into babysitting her friends 17 year old daughter, who then gets kidnapped by a sex trafficking ring that goes all the way to the top. Only thing, the guy is the baddest, most skilled hit man of all time. Bad luck for the bad guys. Absolutely fantastic action and fight scenes."
"Very John Wick-esque with the close, up and personal gun fights. I liked Jang Hyuk in this movie a lot more than his main role in season 1 of Voice. On that show he over-acted his anger a bit too much, which is common in K-dramas. In this movie, he is stoically without expressions. He just goes in and gets the job done with whatever is handy, be it a gun, an ax, a knife, while always employing his martial arts skills. He's pretty bad-ass and sexy to boot.
The plot isn't very original. Take some John Wick, stir in some Bryan Mills, and add a dash of Léon, the Professional and voilà, you got yourself The Killer: A Girl Who Deserves to Die. A retired assassin is basically forced to watch the 17-year-old step-daughter of his wife's friend while they go on a three week vacation to Jeju. Enter a sex trafficking ring and violence ensues. Lots of fun, bloody violence, if you're into that kind of thing.
The only part I didn't like was the very end. After all that hard-core killing, the end felt a bit weak. And the very VERY end didn't quite make sense regarding his wife and her reaction. To what, you ask? Watch it and find out. Then let me know if you agree with me.
All in all a very good Korean action-thriller. It looks like I'm gonna need to check out some more because this movie got me in the mood!"
"a rather simple plot of an ex hitman taking care of a teen girl who’s wrapped up in a trafficking situation. but i loved the dynamic between the main characters, he’s a very stoic guy but you can tell the girl grows on him and it’s cute. lots of blood and death, good fight scenes. a solid watch all around.
