"This film is one of the prime examples of the coolness of the style of the 60’s along with those early James Bond films. The characters are well written and the humor can be as sharp as the fashion in this movie. I’ve always been more patrias to Paul Newman as the leading man of this era but damn I can see the case for Steve McQueen. McQueen as Crown just exudes a cool and calculated energy, you never know if he’s two steps ahead or flying by the seat of his pants but he always acts in control. Faye Dunaway’s Vicki Anderson is possibly the best best example of a 60’s female lead; playful but unreadable, you don’t what what if she’s merely having fun or orchestrating something deeper. Rounded out by a great supporting cast and excellent heist scenes this film deserves all the praise it’s gotten over the years."
