Manhattan drag queens Vida Boheme and Noxeema Jackson impress regional judges in competition, securing berths in the Nationals in Los Angeles. When the two meet pathetic drag novice Chi-Chi Rodriguez — one of the losers that evening — the charmed Vida and Noxeema agree to take the hopeless youngster under their joined wing. Soon the three set off on a madcap road trip across America and struggle to make it to Los Angeles in time.

" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 rewatch. Loved every second of this! Each of these actors are such a revelation! Even back in the day I remembered being worried it was either, a) going to be made a joke, or b) turn into a lot of abuse or bullying trauma. It does neither! Yet without trivializing the potentiality of danger nor minimizing the glitzy, glorious tongue in cheek humor of it all. I have to say John Leguizamo surprised me the most and I kinda fell in love with his cheeky (literally lol), spicy princess wannabe queen. I would never have guessed they all could make it work but they gave the most respectful, heartfelt, fun homage to Queendom by straight men that I’ve ever seen. "

"I loved Patrick Swayze in this! He didn’t get nearly the credit he deserved for his range as an actor. From The Outsiders to Dirty Dancing to Roadhouse to Point Break to City Of Joy to To Wong Foo to Donnie Darko... an incredibly talented actor."
