"I really liked this film. A thought provoking social commentary on the caste system while also effectively weaving a moving father-son story and the son’s effort in helping his father stand up for himself. Great soundtrack by A. R. Rahman, as well as fantastic performances by Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Udhayanidhi Stalin. Having watched him as comedic relief in many Tamil films growing up as a kid, watching Vadivelu in his first serious role was incredible to witness, and he was more than up to the task. What an incredible performance by him (I hope he wins some awards for this)!"

"3.2/5 - puts the caste issue in gory perspective through the lens of politics. udhayanidhi’s goodbye film is reminiscent of pariyerum perumal and karnan, yet not up to the same par. the plus of this film is the amazing and intense serious acting skills of Vadivelu, who I’ve always known to be a comedy actor. Refreshing."
