"We've all seen how Netflix normally handles movies of animes, but this one took a surprising twist. It was actually good.
Not only does it feel authentic to the storyline, but it actually maintained the feel of the show throughout. It truly was an expansion on the world of the tv show, instead of creating its own thing. Things go down fast, & it shares the shows traits of being a bit shocking here & there. If there's one thing Black Clover does well, it's dodging cliches & pushing past the limits of normal writing (reference unintended). This one truly goes beyond, Plus Ultra style.
I don't mean to compare this to My Hero, but My Hero Two Heroes is a lot like it. The two shows have a lot in common & the movies share that fate. Each following similar characters with that resilient attitude, lofty goals, & inspiring ideals. (I'll admit I prefer Asta a bit more just because Deku cries too much & can be frustrating to watch his progressipn) Both movies make the characters show up & showcase what we've come to love from them all. But I have to say, Black Clover did this movie better.
I only say that because they brought back every character they possibly could without revealing what the tv show will be as you watch it. Not to mention, they kick butt just as you'd expect them to without diminishing their characters.
Then for the new characters, specifically our villains. They were refreshing in ways I didn't expect. I especially love the connection between the head honcho & Asta. It made their interactions all the sweeter. I wasn't prepared for it, but they did it justice, even if it was very clear.
The animation also took a rocket ride in quality. You see the extra detail a movie budget gave it, which also made the ending all the more satisfying to watch. The scenes were crisp & entertaining. The intensity was electric throughout & the animation helped push that along.
Overall, a fun, accurate movie to satisfy you while waiting for season 5."
