Miss Sadie Thompson

"I never knew that Rita Hayworth and José Ferrer starred in a film. together. The film takes place in Honolulu, Hawaii, after the war. Rita Hayworth plays the role of Sadie, a woman free with her affections, who parties hard, and enjoys socializing with the Marines stationed there. Charles Bronson has a small role as a Marine who vies his fellow marines for her affections. Although the film seems unbalanced as a musical drama, I was still intrigued by the plot. José Ferrer plays the role of a controlling and overly righteous preacher who goes out of his way to reform Sadie. At times, Ferrer seems too stilted and unemotional, which also made the plot feel even more unbalanced. The plot also takes a few strange turns, especially in the last act. However, the acting is good, and the plot kept my attention."
