"I am surprised at how much I enjoyed watching this film based on a stage play. This drama is superbly well acted and contains an incredible cast. The storyline is about borders staying at a seaside hotel who are either running from their past or are unsure about how to live their future. David Niven won the best actor for his role of an aging soldier afraid of moving on with his life. Rita Hayworth and Burt Lancaster play a combative couple who are trying to work out their relationship. Deborah Kerr is absolutely amazing and almost unrecognizable in her role as an obedient daughter who does anything her mother wishes. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this drama play out in the hotel, the one and only location in the entire film."
"A thoroughly engaging tale of a group of people figuring out their lives, taking place all in a hotel for the entire runtime. Phenomenal writing and acting across the board, with Burt Lancaster, Deborah Kerr, Rita Hayworth, and David Niven were all great. I was surprised by how David Niven really dominated with limited screen time (not surprised he has the least amount of screen time among Best Actor Oscar winners, surpassing Anthony Hopkins for THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS by just 73 seconds). A really well deserved win for him in my opinion."
