1920, rural Ireland. Anglo-Irish twins Rachel and Edward share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence (The Lodgers) which enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; and if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy. When troubled war veteran Sean returns to the nearby village, he is immediately drawn to the mysterious Rachel, who in turn begins to break the rules set out by The Lodgers. The consequences pull Rachel into a deadly confrontation with her brother - and with the curse that haunts them.

"I am not a huge fan of horror, I like the more thrilling side of it, and this movie has tons of thrills. Now I must be de-sensitized to a lot of horror tropes because this movie has almost all of them and none of them really scared me. Curse? Yep. Dark lightning? In droves. Water? By the gallons. In fact, in one scene, I found myself going back to a scene in Alan Wake, the video game, in which he main character says, “It’s not a lake, it’s an ocean.” Creepy incest relationships? Check and check.
It also has tons of religious imagery. It was an ok movie honestly.
Also why do things have to come out of people’s mouths all the time in these films??? THERE ARE MORE HOLES, THE MOUTH IS JUST DISGUSTING.
Anyway, decent thriller movie. Would recommend if you’re looking for something to watch. Shouldn’t be your first choice however.
