"How can I begin?? A hilarious, heartfelt, profane, and remarkably profound masterpiece of storytelling and character. It's a masterclass in adaption and carries the soul of the 1878 novel into the 21st century magnificently. This braindead comedy about unimpressive men in an ordinary world carries a spirit of old world charm and grand adventure. This movie is really something special. I damn near cried at the end.
The story follows a older, more somber Huck Finn (Played by the *beautiful* Kyle Gallner) hoping for a clean start and a "real life and a family" following some years in prison. But it isn't long before Tom Sawyer (perfectly casted in Adam Nee) in all of his timeless peter-pan glory, convinces his old friend to go on one last adventure, the score of a lifetime, that will solve all their problems forever. Of course their best laid plans quickly go array and the hijinks that ensue fast shift from comical to deadly as real world consequences invade Tom's world of childlike Robinhood fantasy.
At it's heart it's a story about the love and pain in friendship, of growing old, growing up, and growing apart. It is a story the modern man needs.
The writing, casting, performances, cinematography, and score are all absolutely magnificent. It is abundantly obvious that every aspect of this movie was made with purpose and love. No matter how many times I watch it I find a new deep layer of richness in it's world and characters. I think Mr. Twain would be very proud indeed. Spectacular."
