Sandra Carpenter is a London-based dancer who is distraught to learn that her friend has disappeared. Soon after the disappearance, she's approached by Harley Temple, a police investigator who believes her friend has been murdered by a serial killer who uses personal ads to find his victims. Temple hatches a plan to catch the killer using Sandra as bait, and Sandra agrees to help.

"I knew that I would love this movie from the cast list: Lucille Ball, Cedric Harwicke, and Boris Karloff. I am so glad to be right about that assumption. This movie is a suspenseful and slow churning murder mystery, with tortured characters and an eerie noir feel. There are also a few funny moments showing off Lucille's comedy skills."

"very noir like movie set in 1940s london. Lucy Ball , George Saunders(all abt eve) ,Doug Sirk (written on the wind) directed. Lucy has the best wardrobe, lovely ball gowns & dresses that could be very fashionable today. The storyline reads just like 2000s true crime, victims left in lakes, buried in backyards. I was surprised at that kind of degeneration & foreboding atmosphere in the 40s. Its definitely worth a look if u like true crime. 4/5"
