"Joan Crawford is beautiful and brutal as the matriarch of a wealthy southern family in Atlanta, Georgia. She lashes out at everyone in her orbit, and yet seems genteel to outsiders, as she craftily edges people to believe in her strange rationale. I was riveted to each scene as I saw how her venom affected her relatives, and the desperate things each was willing to do to escape her wrath. I feel relieved that the film is over. I didn't realize I was holding my breath 🫁 the entire time! The acting from the entire cast is so engaging, and mostly takes place inside the large mansion in which the Phillips family lives. The plot moves along well, and there are few twists and turns, some predictable, others surprising."
"This movie takes off flying through the plot and backstory from the moment you press play, blink and you’ll miss something. The actors portrayed these very unique characters so well, and the writing was excellent, although unless I just missed it, they never explained Mr Phillips’ scar. "
