Madame Bovary

"Well I can’t say that I liked it. This’s the Romantic story of a girl who realises she’s in a loveless marriage. Her coping mechanism is having extramarital love affairs, which isn’t in her best interest. Apart from the stunning visuals, the script/dialogue was less than ok imo. And although the pacing was fast. and the total period is over 2 hours, so many details were omitted/inaccurate. In the novel, Madame Bovary has a little girl named Berthe, which isn’t there in this film adaptation. Also in the novel, she says to Léon to grow a beard like “Louis XIII”, not the “duke of Normandy” (I don’t know why I feel this’s important to point out although I loathe beards in general 😭). Homais’s pompous personality is completely omitted in this film adaptation. Also there’s a slur word that’s been reversed to mean the exact opposite (🤔). I don’t know Why I felt like this was a rushed out version. Has anyone watched other versions? What do you think? "
