The small city of Tarker's Mill is startled by a series of sadistic murders. The population fears that this is the work of a maniac. During a search a mysterious, hairy creature is observed. This strange appearance is noticed once a month. People lock themselves up at night, but there's one boy who's still outside, he's preparing the barbecue.

"surprisingly good! it's obviously low-budget, but it works within its limitations with a jaws approach to the monster, and some fun hammy 80's performances.
while nominally told from the perspective of a resentful older sister (who sometimes uses slurs), the main character is her little brother, and he's a delight to follow around. he never wishes to not be disabled (aloud, anyway), but there's this wonderful wistful moment where he watches a team of boys play baseball, and looks at their legs as they run about. it's a symbol of what the able-bodied world has unthinkingly excluded him from, and i wished he could have gone to crip camp, where he could have met more community. but his uncle, struggling with Stephen King-induced Alcoholism™, builds him the most badass wheelchair i've ever seen.🔥💥 ♿"
