"I never expected to love this movie but man I do! If you like Quest for Camelot you'll adore this too.
You don't expect them to do much with a princess not sleeping on a tower of mattresses since a pea sits underneath them. Yet here these writers go & make a story that not only shocked & surprised me but also entertained me to the final moment. I don't see how any other princess & the pea adaptation could ever beat this. I truly mean that.
I watched it because it was free on YouTube & I was bored. I am so thankful I did. This story is incredible, the songs are catchy & good, the characters are lovable, the villain is conniving, & the unique nature it brings to princess tales makes me want to watch it over & over. And I do.
I would easily say it's the second most underrated animated movie out there. (Legend of the Guardians #1) by that I don't mean it's a masterpiece. I mean that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Barely anyone has even heard of this movie. It has its faults, but it's still incredibly well made. It pleasantly surprises you. The animation can be breathtaking, the story is intriguing, & let's face it, I love a good villain.
Onto him. He seems realistic. Like I could see this being a true story from olden days come to fruition. The 1st son cast aside when the 2nd son is a better ruler. Then his plan is just brilliant. Truly it is! I'm trying not to give too much away here so you can watch the movie without it being spoiled. I also enjoy the progression of the other side villains near the end.
Finally, I will talk about the climax. I want people to watch this so I'm trying to stay vague, yet it has action. Quite a bit of it & even the side characters you expect nothing from help out, & it doesn't feel forced. I love how Daria & Rollo help one another in order to beat Laird. Also love Rollos face the moment before the transition to the final scene (You'll know what I mean when you watch it). I truly cannot recommend this movie enough."
