Based on a true story, two-timing boozing wife Roxie Hart kills her lover in cold blood after he leaves her, and finagles her way out being indicted. The basis for Kander/Ebb's 1975 Broadway musical of the same name and its Oscar-winning 2002 film adaptation.

"This movie was not so much a classic gem I did watch this movie completely silent because the music/piano track was annoying as heck. The story was a bore for me and I think it's because Rosie's character was so flat for me. The reason it got two stars is the ending was really the best part of this movie and I liked Amos in this. "

You'd think this first adaptation of the play, which premiered only a year before this film did, would be a bit more faithful to the story. But, as a Chicago superfan, I can safely say that the stage musical and the 2002 film deserve the title of most faithful. With all that being said, I quite enjoyed this version. It's also the first silent film I've ever seen. While Roxie is still the protagonist, Amos is definitely the hero, which adds depth to his character you don't really see in any other version. Billy, or as he's referred to here as "William," and the trial scene were definitely the funniest parts."
