"I’d always heard about an inferior remake of rear window, but when I actually watched it, it was a lot less awful than advertised. Visually? Hideous. Awful 90s haircuts, architecture, camera angles, terrible lighting. Whatever, it’s a 90s TV movie with the budget of a 90s TV movie. The content is almost more interesting than the original. A disabled actor playing a disabled character? Holy crap, this premise was MADE for this. There’s gay neighbors, an extremely competent Jamaican male nurse, and a greater sense of interiority to Jason than his curmudgeonly 50’s counterpart Jeff. Unlike the original, they don’t actually get to tie up all the threads, which is more frustrating but more based in reality."
