"Boring in my opinion. Based on a true story, which I didn't know until afterward, which might be why it was so boring to me. The clothes were great though."

"Really good! I am uncultured swine, as I didn’t realize Effie Gray was an actual person. Worse, I went to a specialty school… to study art… How could I be so spectacularly ignorant? Embarrassing! 😭 Anyway, knowing a bit about Effie’s story, I feel, would be helpful to viewers. I say this, because some bits between Effie and Millais’ relationship felt vague and a bit confusing at times. At least, to me, anyway. (?? 😰) Emma Thompson, as usual, was great. She can do no wrong. She wrote the screenplay, and her hubz, Mr. Willoughby (lol 😉), plays Effie’s spouse, art critic & philosopher, John Ruskin. Beautiful filming locations, love the era represented (Victorian)."
