"This book is a slow burn and definitely not one that I thought I would enjoy as much as I did.<br/><br/>Initially, I was concerned that it wasn’t going to pick up or that it wasn’t going to grab more of my attention but after getting through about ⅓ of it I started getting more intriguing.<br/><br/>Though I wish there were more clues or some more ways to try to figure out the “who-done-it?” aspect of the book, the twist ending did have me surprised and I was genuinely impressed with the plot.<br/><br/>Why didn’t I rate it higher? It wasn’t the most interesting book in the beginning, so it took some getting used to. I also would have enjoyed this a bit more if there was a bit lore diversity to the characters. Yes, there was some difference in the characters financial and career aspects but not as much with their age, race, and marital status."

"The Perfect Mother is a fun and addicting thriller. I was worried about it being too much a "mom book", but Aimme Molloy found the perfect balance. I tore through it really quickly, and really wanted to know what happened. <br/><br/>This book was almost a 5⭐ for me, but there were a couple things that made it a 4.5⭐. First, sometimes it was hard to tell which woman I was reading about - they were all pretty similar. Almost all of them had a male partner and one baby. I would have appreciated some diversity, even just for the sole purpose of keeping the characters straight. Everyone was also a little sad and a little overwhelmed - nobody had any strong emotions to set them apart. <br/><br/>My other issue was that parts of the ending were a little bit far-fetched, but overall, it was good. I think the plot twist was a good surprise. <br/><br/>The Perfect Mother will be out on 5/1/18, and if you want an intriguing and fast-paced thriller, pick this one up! "Listened to this on audio. It is a mystery about a group of new moms in Brooklyn. The main characters are a diverse interesting group. Kind of reminded me of Big Little Lies. The moms usually meet at the park but decide to go out for some fun one night. Unfortunately while they’re out partying one of the babies goes missing. Lots of secrets are exposed.The audio was really good because the reader used great accents. I actually lay in bed listening to it until late at night because I had to know what happened. I never do that with audio books!"

"I think I would actually give this book 3 1/2 stars, although it does edge towards 4 in that I had problems putting it down. It’s hard to say what my quibble is without including spoilers, so I guess I’ll focus on what I really liked. Yes, it brought back so many memories of my own first few weeks (years?) as a mother—given my kids are now young adults, it’s impressive that the author could make all that feel so current to me again. The fears, the doubts, the sheer exhaustion, the overwhelmed feeling, and the moments of complete adoration. Yep. The relationships felt real. The differences in parenting styles and related judgment felt real. The mystery was interesting for most of the book. But I’ll leave it there for fear of giving anything away. I allowed myself a couple of long reading sessions and was thereby more deeply immersed in the story, so I suspect the characters will stick with me for awhile. It’ll be interesting what they do with a movie version of this."
