"I read this on recommendation by someone, even though I prefer more contemporary poetry. I wasn’t impressed. It was fine. Sure, she was funny and sometimes a bit sassy and subversive, considering the time in which she wrote (mid 1800s), and that was fun to see. It was also accessible, the imagery and metaphors drawn were pretty easy for the average person, which may be why so many cited publication in magazines. There is something great and useful about accessible poetry for those just getting curious about the genre, but for me, it was just fine. "
