She is everything he never knew he wanted in a woman....As a fierce highland warrior, Duncan McEwan has survived numerous battles, bed countless women, and survived a horrific storm at sea. He has scaled mountains and even survived hand-to-claw battle with a cat-o'mountain. It's understandable and easy to brush off in the beginning because she's been abused her whole life, but after a while it gets old. The whole second half of the book is basically her walking around confused at every sexual innuendo. And all the men just stare at her like, "Whatever, she's just SO BEAUTIFUL." It was physically painful sometimes and I ended up rolling my eyes. A lot.

Despite Aishlinn, this was kind of a cute throwaway story. After reading an emotionally heavy book not long ago, I wanted something light and easy, which is what I got. I'm a sucker for the whole Highlander thing and the secondary characters were fun. Plus, Erin Jones did a spectacular job narrating and doing the Scottish accents! I'm curious enough to read the second book because Aishlinn isn't the protagonist and she was really my only gripe. My real endgame is to see what happens to Wee William, but that's book three, so... *Shrugs*

FINAL WORD

Aishlinn was annoying as all hell, but this was still a pretty cute, light romance to pass the time.
"
