Three college friends reunite in Boston after two decades—and find their old bond tested by a betrayal—in this novel by the author of All Our Summers. In her college freshman year, Sophie Holmes met Eva and John, forging the kind of deep friendship that seems destined to last forever. But time proved otherwise, and Sophie married and moved to Los Angeles. Now, two decades later, newly divorced and adrift, Sophie has returned to Boston, and instinctively reaches out to the people who once defined her world. Though they’ve stayed in the same city, Eva and John too have grown apart. Eva is an ambitious advertising executive who favors flings over relationships. John is a dedicated lawyer wondering if he's left it too late for love and marriage. Through Sophie’s reappearance, their connection crackles to life once more. Just as they did long ago, the three confide their longings and secrets—until old insecurities and new betrayal threatens to shatter their bond for good. Holly Chamberlin’s thoughtful novel is a story of rediscovery and letting go, and of the ties that remind us where we've been—and where we still hope to go.

"DNF at 28%. I am going to be 100% honest with other readers on this book. I agree that all the characters in this book are terrible. The only character that I can relate to is Sophie. I also feel extremely bad for Sophie as she is a newly divorced single mom raising her son Jake by herself. I should have known from the very beginning of this book that I was not going to continue finishing this. I really hate doing this but I just can't read about one night stands and Eva, John, and Jake are driving me absolutely ******* insane.
Sophie was a freshman in college when she first met John and Eva. Since the three of them met, it was a forced friendship between the three of them from the start. Over time, Sophie had thought she had found the right man for her and had gotten married to Brad. Well she ended up pregnant with Brad's son Jake. Sophie knew that once he had taken this new job position that they were going to grow apart and go their separate ways. Brad and Sophie both agreed that a divorce was needing to happen. Well after Sophie had got divorced she moved from California back to her hometown in Massachusetts hoping to start fresh on friendship that happened over 20 years ago.
Eva was not excited to make the friendship happen again. Once she met with Sophie at the bar, Eva told her about her past life and how she never really had a relationship and was just into one night stands. Sophie was not happy to hear that and didn't know if Eva was going to change her ways and settle down like she wanted to in college. John was excited to meet Sophie again but once the news was around town that he pretty much was Boston's eligible bachelor..... then he started going on dates and had one night stands as well. John is a dedicated lawyer and makes damn good money but wants to settle down and find the right person when time makes the course. Eva is a advertising executive and makes decent money as well. She doesn't care to have a real relationship with anyone and is just "
