"My least favorite of the series. I did not like the pacing of the book. It seemed like the author was just constantly repeating herself from book 1, and the story wasn't going anywhere interesting. Then there's a rapid tying up of things at the end that felt forced. By the time I finally reached the conclusion, I really just wanted the book to end, and didn't care that much what happened. I also continue to not see the "charm" of Devlin, like many of the other reviewers/readers seem to find. To me, he is kinda dull and personality-less, and a flat stereotype of a "southern gentleman." Also, I was a bit concerned that all the more ethnic characters seem to be more primitive, into magic, speak in dialect, and dangerous. The main character (a blonde girl) keeps describing them as "exotic," but it seems a bit condescending. Is it just me?"
