"My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me - my freshman year of college. I'd been hoping that once I'd arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that I've been having would go away. It hasn't. I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I'm grounded ... sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he's near, I feel an attraction to him - a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking ... that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be ... if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood ... or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life. What is the secret that he's keeping from me? I'm hoping that it's anything but what I suspect: that he's not exactly normal ... and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I've been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is ... inescapable."--Page 4 of cover.

"I enjoyed the twist on this romance but I got too many Twilight vibes from it. Though I have heard the rest of the books are not similar. I liked Reed and his character very much but the main girl's character and Russels accent irritated me to no end almost to the part where I skipped over Russel words sometimes. This is a slow starting plot not giving off much info which makes a good surprise ending. Also the kid slang thru me off quite a bit sometimes with words like phat and gnar not really sure what that was about.

Ok spoiler time for twilight comparisons
....
...
....
...
...
.....
.....
...

Inescapable/Twilight

Best friend Russel soulmate/Best friend Jacob soulmate

Reed glares and brooding doesn't want her here/Edward glares brooding doesnt want her here

Reed wanted to destroy her when they first met/Edward almost exposed his family to drink her blood as soon as they met

Reed can't stay away from her she is a siren who calls to him/Edward can't stay away from Bella her blood sings to him

Reed can't be with her till her transformation or he could crush her/Edward refuses to be with Bella because he could kill her without meaning too

Reed says he is glad he doesn't have to hide his abilities from her and that she is not afraid/Edward's is glad he can be himself with Bella and she is not scared

Reed hanging outside her window while she sleeps/Edward watches Bella sleep outside her window

Love Triangle/ love triangle"
"I really enjoyed the premise of this book. That being said, two things:

1. Please learn appropriate slang. Also, slang loses its effectiveness when having to constantly be explained. The slang in this book comes out of the 1980's.

2. Ya'll is a plural! You have to be referring to more than one person for its use.

Those were my major pet peeves. I did go on to read the other two, so all in all, it was a pleasant read."
