"C.S. Pacat's words are like a slow-seeping drug burrowing into my system. Before I knew it I was hooked again. But honestly, there was never any doubt.
Will our main character is still an enigma. He is caring, cunning, and a natural-born leader. People are drawn to him and they almost think it's of their own volition. Im afriad, I am as well. I would follow him into ruin. But he is conflicting. There is evil just under the skin. Will it surface? Has it already and he is playing me for a fool?
James and Will's dynamic was a slow heat begging for more fodder. Every second they were together I felt desire and destiny all wrapped up into one. Still, I was left with more questions. Was James just lured in by their past or do they really have something together? Pacat has me begging for answers now. The flashbacks were a horrible temptation as well. All Will had to do was give in and he could have everything he ever wanted. And his backstory..... *crying* that broke me and I appreciate Will all the more.
This book, like the first, with a slow build-up. I have a physical need now for the romance to blossom. I wish we got more but apparently Pacat knows just how much to torture someone before they break. And I know I keep talking about Will but there is so much depth there. He is loveable but also alone surrounded by his friends and plagued by secrets.
Cyprian surprised me most of all. His morals clashed with all that he knew and the small spark between him and Violet is something I will be nurturing in hopes of a flame. Elizabeth's character grew into an uncontrollable force too. She is such a little fireball and I love it. Honestly, no complaints here except I didn’t get enough and I have to wait for more. Maybe next time Pacat you can write the whole thing and put it out together so I can binge it.
P.S. that cliffhanger was b*tch move."
