"REREAD 11/12/2024<br/><br/>Apparently in all the dozens of times I've read this book, I have never reviewed it, which is kind of disappointing because I wanted to see what child Esther had to say different than young adult Esther.<br/><br/>I would say that Iantha and Ben carried this book, except that all characters in the Penderwicks always carry. <br/><br/>I will say that Birdsall is excellent at writing subtle romance blooming between adults, from the perspective of children. I think this one might just be my favorite of the 3 (Martin & Iantha, Turron & Claire, Batty & Jeffrey)."
