Emily Ratajkowski
*THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER*A deeply honest investigation of what it means to be a woman and a commodity from Emily Ratajkowski, the archetypal, multi-hyphenate celebrity of our time._______________'Dazzling' - Observer'Excellent [...] Ratajkowski writes with curiosity, intellect and acute awareness' - Harper's Bazaar'Superb [...] it feels revolutionary' - Telegraph'I admire and envy her artistry' - Guardian_______________Emily Ratajkowski is an acclaimed model and actress, an engaged political progressive, a formidable entrepreneur, a global social media phenomenon, and now, a writer. Rocketing to world fame at age twenty-one, Ratajkowski sparked both praise and furor with the provocative display of her body as an unapologetic statement of feminist empowerment. The subsequent evolution in her thinking about our culture's commodification of women is the subject of this book.My Body is a profoundly personal exploration of feminism, sexuality, and power, of men's treatment of women and women's rationalizations for accepting that treatment. These essays chronicle moments from Ratajkowski's life while investigating the culture's fetishization of girls and female beauty, its obsession with and contempt for women's sexuality, the perverse dynamics of the fashion and film industries, and the grey area between consent and abuse.Nuanced, unflinching, and incisive, My Body marks the debut of a fierce writer brimming with courage and intelligence.

"I was pleasantly surprised by this book! It’s not extraordinarily written, but it provides a unique perspective of what it’s like to be a woman that most women desire to be: beautiful and successful, and how those who things might not be all they’re cracked up to be. I particularly love the feminist messages throughout it and this is the type of book that’ll leave you thinking. Would recommend, especially since it’s so short and easy to approach. "
"This book was half baked. She spends most of it trying to reconcile herself as an intellectual using a microphone her body gave her. That’s fair. But she forgets why we care that she has that microphone at all: her platform as an author exists because her experience as a supermodel is rare. The value of rare experience is its results: meaningful, thoughtful new takes on the world. But in the end, she doesn’t really have any. Perhaps the hero isn’t done with her journey. #autobiography #fashion @Likewise "
"I think imma give all memoirs, essays, etc. 5 stars because while I don’t really like rating what I perceive as the “entertainment value” of the piece.. works such as these are written from a real person perspective and,in this book particularly, Emily’s real emotions, feelings, and reflections on moments in her life and how it has shaped her and I feel like rating it is a way to support her in this endeavor and is a way I feel like I can validate her in My Body.<br/>"
