Nora Roberts
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love…Book One of The Cousins O’Dwyer TrilogyDark Witch With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations—and where her destiny awaits. Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses. Not far from the luxurious castle where she is spending a week, she finds her cousins, Branna and Connor O’Dwyer. And since family is family, they invite her into their home and their lives. When Iona lands a job at the local stables, she meets the owner, Boyle McGrath. Cowboy, pirate, wild tribal horsemen, he’s three of her biggest fantasy weaknesses all in one big, bold package. Iona realizes that here she can make a home for herself—and live her life as she wants, even if that means falling head over heels for Boyle. But nothing is as it seems. An ancient evil has wound its way around Iona’s family tree and must be defeated. Family and friends will fight with each other and for each other to keep the promise of hope—and love—alive… Don’t miss the other books in the Cousins O’Dwyer TrilogyShadow SpellBlood Magick

"Two things to note before I begin this review. 1) My mother is a huge Nora Roberts fan. 2) I am cheap. These two facts are linked because my mother and I share a Kindle account. And as a result I have read, and read, a lot of Nora Roberts. I am basically a bona fide Nora novel expert. So, that being said, this particular specimen of Nora's writing has a lot of competition in the "my favs of Nora" category. I wouldn't say its the best of her books, but I liked it all the same. It's part of a trilogy, which Nora is obviously fond of, and therefore has its merits and deficiencies. On one hand, nobody makes you love characters like Nora, and her trilogies give you more of an opportunity to experience all of the interactions between the lot of them. On the other hand, it can be a bit campy, because everyone always pairs off and you can see if from a mile off. I admit, sometimes I roll my eyes. This first book of the Cousin O'Dwyer trilogy reminded me a bit of both the Sign of Seven and the Circle trilogies, which I liked, and because I liked those trilogies you would figure I would like this. But its so much of a mash up of the same elements that make up the other series that I can't help but compare them, and this one, unfortunately, comes up short. I'll definitely finish out the rest of the trilogy (because, I mean, it's already on my Kindle) but it just reinforces my opinion the Nora is stronger when she sticks to her single serve suspense novels, which I tend to favor."

"My most succinct review on this one is "meh." Just not my thing, storyline not all that interesting, ending a bit abrupt--even knowing she needs to leave herself open for two more novels with the continuing saga. I used to like Nora Roberts quite a bit years ago--she had great characters that felt new at the time. I'm not as into her more recent books and I feel like now I'm just reading the same characters with new names. I don't know yet if I'm going to bother reading the other two books in this trilogy when they're released."
"This was so much fun! I was told recently that I would love this book. It's one of my sister's favorite Nora Roberts book which add so much more anxiety on the situation of me reading it. What if I didn't read it? So I put it off and let it sit on my TBR for way too long.

And I did not regret it one bit. I so enjoyed the atmosphere of the book. I loved how bubbly and effervescent Iona's personality is. She was adorable and fun and her found family with her cousins and their friends in Ireland is heart warming.

The magic system is very similar in context to Nora Robert's other series Three Sister's Island. There are also a few similar themes and troupes as her other series. If that doesn't bother you then I think you'll love this series."
