Loving vs. Virginia

"Quick objectivity before the subjectivity. This is a beautifully-written, easy-to-follow narrative of the story of Mildred and Richard Loving. It reads almost like fiction but the story is obviously very real. The audiobook is wonderfully done though you likely will want to listen slower than your normal audiobook speed if you're like me and listen to all your audiobooks at 1.8X or higher.<br/><br/><br/>On to the subjectivity...<br/><br/>I grew up in Caroline County. This was a hard read. I know these surnames, not as people in a book but as the names of classmates. Jeter and Fortune and Beasley and Brooks and Loving, I had classmates with all those names. My momma was born about 2 months before the Loving v Virginia decision. She grew up in Sparta, just down the county a bit from the Lovings. In high school, our government teacher made a comment about how we better know this case already. And we did. This book was so real for me. I found myself near tears by the end."
