"Persuader by Lee Child is like a non-stop thrill ride. Reacher's back, and he's undercover with a shady criminal, causing chaos and staying one step ahead. There's betrayal, tons of action, and a thrilling showdown.
The middle slows down a bit, but the explosive ending makes up for it. Reacher is as awesome as ever, throwing punches and outsmarting everyone.
Persuader is a classic Reacher book: sharp, thrilling, and action-packed. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

"This is not my normal sort of book. I live for fantasy and I love a good mystery, but action-thrillers aren’t usually high up on my list. That being said, I enjoyed this one. My dad gave me the copy that I own and I was determined to give it a go. So let’s discuss it a bit.

Stylistically, Child’s writing takes some getting used to. His sentence structure can sometimes come across as stilted or blunt, like each sentence is a complete and isolated thought. Given that the book is narrated from the MC’s viewpoint, though, this makes sense. Jack Reacher is former military police, and gives off a very cut and dry attitude. He’s sarcastically humorous at times, but mostly comes across as very direct. If you don’t mind having a blunt middle-aged man narrating in your head, you’ll be fine. The end of the book felt a bit abrupt, like maybe the last couple of pages had been ripped out, but everything was wrapped up and honestly it kind of fits the rest of Reacher’s vibe.

Morally I’d classify Reacher as chaotic neutral; he’s going to do whatever he thinks is necessary to do what’s ultimately right. With that in mind, there’s a lot of violence in the book. It didn’t bother me, but for some more squeamish readers or those that don’t handle graphic descriptions, you may want to skip it. There’s also some other trigger warnings that should probably be included, so do your research before you read if you need them.

This is the 7th book in the Jack Reacher series, but it’s the first one I’ve read. I was concerned at first that I might be missing a lot of info, but Child did an excellent job at making the book capable of standing on its own. From everything I could look up, most of the Jack Reacher books are like this and can be read in any order. Overall, I enjoyed this one. I don’t know that I’d read this specific title again, but I’d be open to reading more about Jack Reacher’s exploits."
