After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he’s still in good health, and one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn’t interested (and he’d like a bit more control over his alcohol consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey. It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has a larger-than-life backstory: Not only has he witnessed some of the most important events of the twentieth century, he has actually played a key role in them. Quirky and utterly unique, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared has charmed readers across the world.

"DNF. I skip parts that go on too long that I'd rather not read and don't think are important. Not what I thought it was going to be. Right now I'm almost halfway through and having a hard time finishing. Have no clue what the 2nd book will be like. I gave in, I can't finish this book. I'm trading both books in. I'm not going to waste my time. "
"Loved it! That’s it."

"I wanted a light, fun read, and this did not disappoint! The comparisons to Forrest Gump are quite accurate as our main character, Allan Karlsson finds himself to either have a front row seat to history, or having one on one conversations with some of the most famous world leaders of the last 100 years. To say that Allen has lived an interesting and exciting life would be an understatement.

We first meet our main character as he escapes from the Old Persons home by crawling out the window shortly before his 100th birthday party. From there we see an uproarious tale of adventure and learn a great deal about this man's life in the process.

The book is very well written with characters you become quite attached to. There were a few laugh out loud moments, but mainly it was bits of humor that brought a smile or a chuckle. It did drag a little bit as some of the chapters were quite long on my kindle, but other than that, this is a fantastic book if you're looking for something fun to read!"

"It does meander, but the humor is there in everything that happens. Similar to Forrest Gump, where Allan is accidentally involved in many historic events, and causes several of them. Allan's low-key personality makes it even funnier.

Not exciting or fast-moving, but a good read."
"If you like Frederick Backman you’ll enjoy this Swedish author as well! Reminded me of Thomas Berger’s ‘Little Big Man’. The adventures and people met in his 100 years make for s delightful tale!"
