"An intense novel of vengeance, exploitation, and pushing the boundaries of what humans are capable of. Brutal and tense, this novel delivers a buildup of anxiety and outrage, sorrow and fear, highlighting the real-life consequences of crime, racism, and poverty. Combined with ritualistic horror, this novel is a nail-biting thriller that radiates heartbreak. Compelling and insightful. "
"I liked the blend of English and Spanish within the narrative. The story is relatable and a way to understand why decisions that can take one down a destructive path are made. #StoryWorthReading #BestSeller #Texas #TexasAuthors #Books #Reading #Dream #literature #Writings #WritingWorthReading #WrittenWorks "

"This is a dark and fantastical crime novel about a man who is driven to desperate measures in order to Keep his head above water. Mario went from traumatic childhood, to being a man who felt he was blessed but was always fighting financially to keep his life together. When the unthinkable happens he finds himself alone with debt collectors "knocking" on his phone and mailbox daily. A former co-worker (and current drug dealer) steps up and offers him job. The jobs begin to multiply until he is offered the "One last job that will set him for life". At the bottom of his luck he see's this mysterious job as the chance to get back some of what was taken from him. Oh, did I mention that he see's ghosts who try to tell him not to take the job and he takes it anyways? Mario is thrust into a dark world of drug trafficking, witches, creatures that burrow under the earth, a little god on earth and the devil him (or herself). This book has a nice blend of social commentary and horror elements that make it a perfect crime story."
"This story is full of despair and unflinching horror. The danger felt real and the characters’ fear was palpable. The ominous threat of violence made me nauseous and I’ve never experienced such foreboding terror while reading. And then Iglesias hits us with that inevitable gut punch?! What a perfect way to end it."
