"⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 I wanted to read this because it sounded so similar to one of my favorite books, The Beach. And yes there are similarities but this one was just ok. In The Beach there was this constant sense of tension even just during descriptive passages. With this one you don’t get much of that until closer to the end but even then it’s minimal. If you’re looking for twisty this isn’t it. There’s no deeper mystery beyond discovering what happened through the flashback story, which was no surprise."
"Couldn’t finish it. Just felt like it was really lagging "

"I'm so glad I won this in a Goodreads Giveaway! I have one singular complaint about this book, and it revolves around the very line in the copy that got me to enter the giveaway: "It's all my fault. I killed them."<br/><br/>Now, did this do its job in getting me to pick up this book? Yes, it did. Is it a bit misleading? Yes, it is. All Bamford needed to do was tweak it slightly: "They're dead. It's all my fault." Technically speaking, murder was not committed. However, the way in which the people she is referring to die is interesting enough on its own! It doesn't need to be described under the guise of murder for the reader to get invested in the story. Maybe I'm splitting hairs. After all, it got me to read it. <br/><br/>That aside, this book kept me guessing and kept me on my toes. I tend to shy away from water-themed thrillers because they tap into a primal fear I'd rather not face head-on, but this one was <i>good</i> and I got out the other side untraumatized. Highly recommend!"
