"4.5 ⭐️ If you’re a romantasy lover, this has everything you need in it. An alchemist FMC that’s much more than she seems, a brooding “who did this to you” MMC involved in her training and the secrets of a prophecy to uncover. I appreciated that the FMC knew what she wanted and just kept going for it, in regards to life and love. I also loved some of the side characters, they really stood out. I will be reading the next one in the series immediately. "
"It took me a couple of days to get in to this one, but after she saved the king, I was hooked. It had the romantic angry tension throughout. Does get spicy. It did give some “fourth wing” vibes, but without the fragile and whiny FMC. There are some clues that you can piece kinda together before the truth is revealed. "

Blood & Steel is absolutely worth the hype! I actually put this book down after Chapter 1 (didn’t feel the vibe) before picking it back up again several months later, and I’m so glad I did! Let’s start with the beautiful representation of feminism in the face of a patriarchal adversary. While there aren’t many female characters present in the first book, each one is strong in their own way. Many of the issues that Thea faces are similar to issues that women face everyday in real life, and that representation was refreshing to read about. If Thea can handle it, so can we!
Speaking of Thea - it’s been much too long since I’ve read such a well thought out FMC. She has her flaws, but she is also multi dimensional and relatable. She doesn’t whine or whimper about how hard her short life is (cough cough, Arwen, ADOO), and lives each moment working to achieve her goals while still fearing her fate. It’s not often we see well written FMCs like her! The Trio is such a wonderful representation of friendship, I love how Cal and Kip were instant besties with Thea. Can’t wait to see more of them! I loved the world building and magic system, and I especially love how we’re getting pieces of the plot’s puzzle slowly but surely.
Wilder was a pretty standard MMC, but I appreciate how Scheuerer did the enemies to lovers. There was a smidge of insta-lust fan service, but it was honestly cute. Malik stole the show for me though, and I desperately need him to not die a tragic death. He’s a wonderful representation of a unique disability.
I’m so excited to start Vows & Ruins - I have high hopes for this series! This could finally be THE series with the boom pow punch that I’ve been craving since Glow/Gold let me down. On to the next!"
"I liked the story. Kept me interested the whole time.I did get frustrated with the Fm and MMC characters because they argued a lot.It was slow at the beginning and it finally got good when someone tried to unalive the king.
************SPOILER FOR MY MEMORY**** FM character past the trial by to become an apprentice , to Hawthorne. The did the deed and he left because he figured out that she was a princess and he was in love with her."
